After her adult daughter suffered a brain tumor, Dorothy Cude became her round the clock care-giver.
Greensboro -- In the late 80s, Gwen Pfaffli was at the top of her career. She met her husband when she was living in Wilmington. They eventually moved back to his home in Switzerland. While they lived there, Gwen was singing with a band, Fool House. Before she knew it, she was voted one of the top female artists in Switzerland.
Everything seemed to be going her way... until she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She went through treatments but she hasn't been the same since. She needs round the clock care. Her mother is the one who provides it.
While Dorothy Cude is happy to take care of her daughter, anything which requires round the clock attention can be tiring- especially when it has been going on for about 8 years now.
Lilly Foster has been the one who gives her a little break each week. She volunteers with the Adult Center for Enrichment. As a former nurse, after retirement, she decided to find a place to give back. This seemed to be a perfect fit. She has been coming to their house so Dorothy can have some time to herself each week since. Foster lightens the mood of the house with music and games.
