Raleigh, NC-- A Winston-Salem woman is smiling from ear to ear after winning a North Carolina Education Lottery Game. Lottery officials announced Monday that Charlynn Schultz won $135,370 playing Carolina Cash 5. She said it was like an out of body experience.
"I was just about to go to bed when I got on the computer to check my numbers," Schultz said. She later told lottery officials she couldn't believe her eyes, "I saw a couple of my numbers matched and thought I had won a dollar. Then I kept seeing them match, one after the other. I didn't know where I was for a minute. It was just surreal, like a wave coming over me."
Schultz winning ticket was for the March 9 drawing. She matched all five numbers, beating odds of 1 in 575,757 to win the jackpot. She bought her lucky ticket at the Circle C on Hickory Tree Road in Winston-Salem.
Now what? Schultz said she plans to use her new cash, which is $92,051 after taxes, to pay bills and help pay for her children's education.
