RUFFIN, N.C. -- A train derailed in Rockingham County, causing a road closure Tuesday morning.
Officials with Rockingham County EMS says it happened just after 9 a.m. in Ruffin.
Three freight cars ran off the track. No injuries or hazards have been reported. The sheriff's office said the cars were carrying grain.
Rockingham County Watch Operations says parts of the 500 and 600 blocks of Ruffin Road has been temporarily closed until emergency crews clear the scene. Officials were unable to give an estimated time as to when that will happen.
