Danville Museum

Visit the The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, the antebellum home of Civil War quartermaster William T. Sutherlin, host to Confederate President Jefferson Davis from April 3 - 10, 1865 after the fall of Richmond. See the table on which Davis penned his final proclamation to the Confederacy and tour the Italianate mansion, a designated Virginia historic landmark and listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy the changing art exhibitions featured in the galleries and travel back in time through the permanent Civil War exhibition, Between the Lines.

Danville Science Center

Located at the historic Crossing at the Dan, Danville Science Center delights all ages with hands-on exhibits and special programs that make science fun and engaging for everyone. From April through October, the Butterfly Station and Garden is a "must see" display--one of only a few butterfly greenhouses in Virginia. The Science Center's natural history collection is housed in the 1899 Southern Railway Passenger Station. The building is registered with the Virginia Landmarks Commission and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There is so much to see and do, so visit us once. We are sure you will visit again!
