Mount Airy, NC -- Mount Airy police received an anonymous donation to help catch whomever vandalized the Andy Griffith statue.
Someone painted the statue red and green last month.
The $1,000 donation will go towards the Crime Stoppers reward.
The Surry County Arts Council also received $300 in donations to help with beautification and security for the statue.
The council's director says crews removed most of the paint, but need to come back to finish and wax the statue.
