Kerri Hartsfield - WFMY News 2 Reporter

Kerri Hartsfield

Kerri Hartsfield joined WFMY-TV in January 2008. She transferred to the Triad after two years as a general assignment reporter at our sister station, WLTX-TV, in Columbia, SC. Before returning to the South, Kerri spent five years braving the cold Midwest winters. In 2004, she graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and began reporting for WSIL-TV in Southern Illinois.

Over the years, Kerri has covered everything from hurricanes to the heart-warming reunions of soldiers and their families. Her most notable interview was with Barack Obama. Kerri is also proud of her work for Northwestern University's Investigative Journalism program. Her reports could lead to the exoneration of an Illinois man who has been incarcerated for more than 25 years.

For Kerri, the highlight of reporting is covering the breaking news and emotional stories that educate and empower viewers.

Q&A with Kerri Hartsfield

If you weren’t on television news, what would you do for a living?
I would probably work in real estate. I love to apartment hunt and tour older homes, especially the ones that I cannot afford.

What was your best subject in school?
Chicago. I went to college just outside of the city, and I love Chicago’s architecture, nightlife, food and shopping. Also, nothing can compare to the view from Lake Shore Drive on a clear day. It’s absolutely beautiful.

What is your favorite food?
I love seafood, soul food and pizza.

What are your hobbies?
The three "R"s : Reading, Relaxing and Retail.

Brag About Your Family.
I live with Coco, my super-cute and super-spoiled cocker spaniel. My family and fiancée live in Atlanta, where I visit frequently. My parents have been married for almost 35 years, and my older sister—by three full years—celebrated her first wedding anniversary in October 2007.
