FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Authorities in Cumberland County have charged a Fayetteville man in connection with the death of his 16-month-old son.
The sheriff's office said that 31-year old Evans Aine II was taken into custody Thursday afternoon. He is charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse.
Investigators say Aine struck and killed Kaeden Demus on June 11. A medical examiner's report determined the child died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. His body was found inside Aine's home.
Bond has not been set and Aine didn't have an attorney as of Thursday afternoon.
