CLYDE, N.C. -- Deputies in Haywood County shot and killed an armed man involved in a domestic dispute.
Sheriff Bobby Suttles says two deputies responding to a domestic call Thursday morning near Clyde were met by an armed man who pointed a gun at them. The deputies were not injured, but Suttles says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's name has not been released. Authorities say the man's wife and some children were in the home at the time. None of them were injured.
The officers have not been released, but Suttles described them as veteran officers. They have been placed on paid leave while the State Bureau of Investigation probes the shooting.
