(High Point, NC) -- High Point Police Officers were called to the Sheraton Apartments, 400 N. Main Street, in response to a an alleged stabbing.
When officers arrived, they confronted a man who was still armed with a knife. According to Police, the suspect ignored the officers' commands to drop the weapon and instead starting quickly approaching the officers.
Two officers then fired their weapons striking the suspect. Once the suspect was down, the officers performed CPR on him but they said he died.
Police identified the man as 60 year-old David Danny Ferguson of High Point.
As department policy, the State Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the shooting. As is standard procedure in all officer involved shootings, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
The stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening injuries from the stabbing. No officers or other bystanders were injured during the incident. High Point Police are investigating the stabbing incident.
