Greensboro, NC -- They may be the easiest thing you can plant. That's why the GMS anchor team is having a Paperwhite planting contest. It's a little friendly competition between the anchors to see who's looks best by the first week in December.
To plant a paperwhite, all you need is a glass, gravel, water and a bulb. You don't even need dirt! Here's how you do it:
- Get a small but sturdy glass
- Add gravel
- Put the bulb in the top
- Fill with water up to the bottom of the bulb. You want it to just barely touch the bottom.
- Keep it watered
That should be all there is to it. There is usually a flower in 4-6 weeks.
The anchors will be left to care for their flower on their own. On December 4th, they will present their flower for judging. Whoever has the best looking plant wins!
