RALEIGH - The NC Division of Aviation awarded $9,639,270 for Vision 100 funds from the Federal Aviation Administration to several general aviation airports across the state.
Airports can use the funds for general airfield improvements, runway safety, runway extensions or even build a new terminal.
Since Gov. Bev Perdue took office in 2009, the Division of Aviation has awarded more than $125 million in funding to state airports. These funds enable airports to provide access to education and job opportunities throughout the state.
The Division of Aviation distributes the funding and manages projects for the 63 general aviation airports. Normal airport operational costs such as salaries, mowing equipment and supplies are not eligible for funding.
The following airports each received $150,000:

• Avery County/Morrison Field in Spruce Pine;
• Billy Mitchell Airport in Hatteras;
• Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport;
• Cape Fear Regional in Oak Island;

• Currituck County Airport in Currituck;
• Curtis L. Brown Field in Elizabethtown;
• Dare County Regional in Manteo;
• Davie County Airport in Lexington;

• Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station/Regional Airport;

• First Flight Airport in Kill Devil Hills;
