Winston-Salem, NC -- Hungry Triad Area households will benefit from a tractor trailer load of sweet potatoes that are being donated to Society of St. Andrew on Wednesday.
Forty-thousand pounds of sweet potatoes will be delivered to the Christ Rescue Temple parking lot and packed and distributed to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and individuals.
Volunteers are needed to help with packing and delivering loads of potatoes within the Forsyth County area and beyond. All hunger relief agencies are invited to participate. The event will begin at 7 am and continue until all food has been distributed. Christ Rescue Temple is located at 1500 N. Dunleith Avenue, Winston-Salem.
The Potato Drop has been organized by New Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Southern Produce Distributors, Inc., has donated the sweet potatoes in an effort to clean out their warehouse for the Fall 2012 harvest.
