Greensboro, NC -- Runners and walkers of all ages, and from as far away as Arizona, laced up their tennis shoes and competed in this year's Freedom Run and Walk.
The race, in its 36th year, hosted runners and walkers from ages 3-81.
News 2's Tanya Rivera emceed the event.
Devin Swann of Raleigh won this year's race followed by Andrew Ledwith and Ben Hammond of Greensboro.
The top female runner was Jemissa Van Hoy of Raleigh followed by April Irwin and Yu Tsuchida of Greensboro.
The race was the first of several events scheduled for this year's Fun Fourth Festival.
