Kernersville, NC - Throwing out items might not be the first thought for people cleaning out their attics and basements anymore.

Collectors will pay top dollar for things that might have been stored for many years.

Just this year, Karl Kissner was cleaning out his aunt's house and found an old cardboard box in the attic. Inside were a group of well-preserved and neatly bundled baseball cards. After sending it to an expert, the Associated Press reports the first words out of the experts mouth were "Oh my gosh." It turns out Kissner's grandfather had collected some extremely rare baseball cards -- issued around 1910! Cards of hall of famers Ty Cobb, Cy Young and Honus Wagner in pristine condition! Experts are calling it one of the biggest, most exciting finds in the history of sports card collecting. They found about 700 cards in all, that could be worth up for three million dollars when they're sold at auction.

"Just anything that you think to yourself, Wow, that might be worth some money its worth getting checked out." said Kevin Batchelor, Regional Manager of We Buy Treasure in Kernersville.

The one factor that can make or break your big pay day is condition. Something that is in better condition will get you more money. Taking your item to an expert will let you know what you have and how much something is worth.

"It just depends on what it is but you hate to find something thats worth alot of money and not do anything about it because you didn't take the time to do your research on it" Batchelor said.
