Rockingham County, NC -- The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and the Red Cross are working together to collect non-perishable and canned foods for this holiday season.
The Rockingham County Red Cross has had to cut hours and turn hundreds of people away because they currently don't have enough food to give out to those who need it most.
"We have about 14 hundred families who need the food. We're only able to help half of those, around 550," said Melissa Smith with the Rockingham County Red Cross. "It's a good feeling to help those folks, but it's a bad feeling when you have to turn those people away and you don't have anything to give them."
You can help by donating food to the Rockingham County Red Cross.
