Greensboro, NC -- Neighbors in Greensboro's Sunset Hills community can breathe a sigh of relief, at least in the short term. They were concerned that Duke Energy was sending crews in this week to trim trees away from power lines.
Neighbors say the trees have been left alone for years and they don't understand why the company would trim now, at Christmas.
News 2 placed a call to Duke Energy to get answers. We spoke with Duke Energy Spokesperson Dave Scanzoni. Scanzoni says that as of Sunday, "Duke Energy suspended all power-line activities in the Sunset Hills community until after Christmas."
Scanzoni says that the suspension will give the city of Greensboro, neighbors and Duke Energy the chance to sit down and discuss concerns and come up with a plan of action.
When asked, Scanzoni also said there has been no date set for the meeting.
Sunday night the neighborhood was illuminated for the annual Running of the Balls, where neighbors take the 5K trek, either running or walking through a neighborhood illuminated for Christmas.
