Eden, NC -- Eden's new public transit bus route offers trips for $1.
The route goes to retail stops, the hospital, doctor's offices, dentists, the library and Goodwill.
"It's a great addition to have to our community," director of economic development for the city of Eden Mike Dougherty said. "We have not had a public transportation system here in decades and this will allow people that chance to move around. It's a dollar ride, so you can't beat that when gas is $3.39 a gallon."
Organizers said there are stops specifically targeted to seniors and people with disabilities, but anyone is welcome to ride.
