Raleigh-- An office manager in Greensboro has thousands of reasons to celebrate life and luck.
Lynette Brice won one of Carolina Cash 5's big jackpots this week. Brice won $261,721 in the Wednesday night drawing.
Brice said she regularly plays the Carolina Cash 5 because she likes the game's odds of winning the jackpot. She said she buys a $5 ticket for every drawing, letting the computer pick her numbers.
As part of her morning routine, Brice said she visits the lottery's website and checks to see if she won anything in the drawing the night before.
She's no stranger to winning, Brice told lottery officials that she's gotten four of the five numbers, three times before.
For this win, Brice takes home at total of $177,970 after the tax man gets his cut.
What was her reaction to winning the big pot? "I started beating on the desk and said 'I don't believe it,'" she recalled. She told her husband, "I just hit the Cash 5!" "You're kidding me," he said. "How many winners hit?" "One," she replied. "And it's me!"
She told lottery officials that she and her husband can save for retirement and help provide for their five grandchildren's college education.
Brice purchased her lucky ticket at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro.
