Greensboro -- The year was 19-28.Lindley Elementary opened its doors to students in Greensboro...Its Guilford County's second oldest school.
Today, the community celebrated Lindley's 85th with tons of treats, a time capsule and several walks down memory lane for all. Some people got to see old teachers and staff members. We spoke with one former student, who says this birthday got her really thinking about her old elementary school days.
"This is where my career got started as an educator and as a musician was through public school music. " says Marta Richardson who finished at Lindley in 1970.
"Yes, the hallways have changed but it still feels like a great place."
The school's P.T.A. organized today's event and the principal tells us that on top of celebrating 85 years of education the day's event also focused on reconnecting the community with the school.
School officials are looking for volunteers to possibly be lunch buddies or school donors.
The principal also says, if you missed the celebration you can call the school and schedule a tour anytime.
