Fincastles' Jody Morhpis Drops By To Make A Diner Classic, The Delta Burger

Jody Morphis from Fincastles Diner on Elm Street in Downtown Greensboro stopped by the Good Morning Show to share their famous Delta Burger recipe.

Delta burger

  • 2lbs. of certified angus ground chuck separated into 4 - 8oz. balls.
  • 4 pieces of green leaf lettuce
  • 1 cup of remoulade sauce
  • 4 slices of fried green tomatoes
  • 8 oz. container of seersucker chef pimento cheese (available at the south elm urban market and at Fincastles Diner downtown)
  • 4 thick slices of apple smoked bacon
  • 4 buttermilk rolls from loaf bakery

Remoulade sauce

  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • ½ stalk of celery
  • ¾ cups of mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons of creole mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of tobasco sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • Process in a food processor until smooth

Green tomato recipe

  • 1 large green tomato sliced into 4 slices
  • ½ cup of yellow corn meal
  • ½ cup of all purpose flour
  • ½ cup of butter milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon seersucker chef creole seasoning

Mix dry ingredients until incorporated. Dredge green tomato in corn meal mixture and then dip into buttermilk. Shake and dredge again in cornmeal mixture. Fry in hot oil for 2 minutes.
