Kernersville, NC - WFMY News 2 is finding ways to help you Survive the Economy. Here are three guaranteed ways you can save $50 or more off your next grocery bill.

The first way to save, of course is to clip coupons. The key is to only use coupons on sale items and shop around. Simply get what you know is on sale at one store and then move on to the next to capitalize on their sale items. For instance, if you have a Buy one get one Free coupon and the stores sale is Buy one get one Free, they are both free. The third way to save is to do your research and pay attention at the register. Lowes, Harris Teeter, Food Lion and other stores double your coupons on certain days and triple them on others. But you have to know the best day of the week to shop.

A couponing expert is sharing her secrets to saving $6,000 a year on her grocery bill.

Theresa Gibson turned her penny-pinching ability into a full fledged money-saving opportunity. Gibson spends two hours a week going through the circular, clipping coupons and capitalizing on store sales. Last week she bought $600 worth of groceries for $52. So how does she do it?

"I always tell everybody to cut all the coupons because you never know if it's going to go on sale or not. And Just wait for the sales and then use the coupons," said Gibson. "Never miss a Sunday because coupons come out on Sundays and if you miss a Sunday it might be the Sunday that has really good coupons on it that you may save some money on."

Theresa's couponing system worked so well for her, she now offers a monthly couponing class at her church. The next one is at 6pm at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville.
