Morrisville, N.C. -- As holiday travelers pack North Carolina's highways and airports, one group is finding a special refuge at the Raleigh-Durham airport.
The facility in Morrisville has North Carolina's only airport-based USO center, where military travelers can rest, relax -- and, right now, get a bite of turkey.
The airport USO is always busy, with about three-thousand visitors every month from the Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune, the Army's Fort Bragg and other installations in eastern North Carolina.
More than a dozen soldiers milled about the center yesterday -- one of the year's busiest travel days. Marine Lance Corporal Chris Brown wasn't even traveling. He said he drove to the airport from Camp Lejeune to drop off a friend, then spent the rest of the day just hanging out.
