Thomasville, NC -- Police arrested a man they said tried to destroy evidence by eating it.
On Thursday, police responded to an apartment on Salem Street after a caller reported the smell of drugs. When officers arrived, a man opened the door and identified himself as Curtis Carolina.
Carolina agreed to let officers in to talk with him about the drug complaint. Officers said they spotted marijuana stems and some other items in the apartment.
Investigators said that Carolina agreed to a search of the apartment and lead them to a closet. He told them that is where they would find what they are looking for.
Officers said that as they were looking in the closet, Carolina grabbed something from the floor and ran to the bathroom. After breaking into the bathroom, officers said they saw Carolina chewing something and what appeared to be marijuana hanging from his mouth.
They said the suspect then spat the apparent marijuana into a nearby bathtub.
Curtis Carolina was arrested and charged with possession, resisting/delaying an officer, and destroying evidence.
His bond was set at $10,000.
