Solstas Bringing 500 New Jobs To High Point

High Point, N.C. -- Solstas Lab Partners will create 500 new jobs in High Point within the next five years.

Governor Bev Perdue announced the plan during a visit to High Point Wednesday afternoon. Perdue said it was largest number of jobs added in the city in the past 13 years. Perdue said the strong education system in High Point helped the community attract the jobs.

Solstas Lab Partners is a medical and diagnostic laboratories company. Right now, it employs more than 720 fulltime employees and 140 part-time employees.

Perdue said the average salary for the new jobs would be $45,560 and the company will add $11.6 million to the local tax base.

According to a news release, Loren Hill, president of the High Point Economic Development Corp, said, "Solstas is an outstanding company. Our office has been working on this Solstas project for 21 months, and we are most excited about today's announcement."
