Winston-Salem, NC - It was a little over a year ago that the Wake Forest baseball player Kevin Jordan saw his dream of playing Major League Baseball almost disappear due to a life threatening blood disorder that was causing his kidneys to fail.

After no one in Kevin's family matched for a kidney, Wake Forest Baseball Coach Tom Walker offered one of his kidneys, and his kidney was a match for Kevin's.

Coach Walker tells his players they are like family to him, and his decision to donate a kidney was a gift he was happy to give.

Following surgery, both Walker and Jordan were eager to return to the field, and on Wednesday, after a long road of recovery, Kevin will play his first home game for the Demon Deacons.

Jordan told News 2 before the big game, "In the back of my mind, there were definitely days where I thought I wouldn't be able to play but I will never say anything like that because I knew that was my primary focus until somebody told me I couldn't."

Through hard work and determination, Jordan is in better shape than ever, and said his main goal, "I just want to win right now, this year, stats aren't important, I just want to win, win for my coach, and win for my teammates."

For Coach Walker, the message is more than just baseball, "The things I try to tell people all the time about this story is what I've received in return from this is a thousand times valuable than anything I gave."
