Greensboro, NC -- On Saturday, District 27 state senate candidate Sal Leone confirmed to WFMY News 2 that he is being treated for a spinal infection. 

In a phone call, he told us that he is in fair condition but has been walking around in pain for 14 days.

Leone says he worked his regular shift by day and campaigned for the newly-drawn seat by night.

He says doctors at Moses Cone should decide what form of antibiotic  treatment to follow in the next couple of days.

Says Leone: "This just makes me stronger and my campaign will go on."

Leone, who has never held public office faces 3 other GOP candidates in the May 8th primary: Greensboro City Councilwoman, Trudy Wade; High Point City Councilman, Latimer Alexander IV ; and Justin Conrad who is the vice Chairman of the Guilford County Board of Health.  Alexander does not have a political webpage, but we were able to locate him on Facebook.
