(High Point, NC)  --  Ralph Lauren Corp. is considering both southern and northern High Point for a major expansion.

If the company picks High Point for this expansion, 500 fulltime-equivalent jobs would be added in High Point over five years and the average wage of those new jobs would be almost $31,000.

The company would also add $142 million to the local tax base - by expanding and/or upgrading its 201 N. Pendleton St. building in southern High Point, its 4100 Beechwood Ave. building in northern High Point, and at other locations in the city.

High Point is being considered for the project along with a location in another state.

Public hearings in High Point and Greensboro will be held to consider authorizing financial incentives for the project.

The High Point City Council will consider authorizing up to $2,000,000 at a public hearing on Monday, May 7, 2012, at 5:30 p.m.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will consider authorizing up to $1,238,400 at its public hearing, to be scheduled later in May.

The company is High Point's 4th largest employer today, with more than 1,400 fulltime-equivalent employees. At several locations in High Point, the company has a wide range of operations - including three distribution centers, a customer contact center, various office functions, a research and development facility, and more.
