(New York, NY) -- For the first time since September 11, 2001, the Empire State Building will not be New York's tallest.
The new One World Trade Center building becomes the highest with the steel installation set in place Monday (4/30).
The building already towers over lower Manhattan, and now takes its place as number one amond the skyscrapers on the famous New York skyline.
The support beam was lifted into place just after 2pm ET. workers below riveted the piece into its secure position and then removed the hoist cable as workers applauded.
