RALEIGH, NC -- North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis says a second person on his staff has been forced to resign after having an inappropriate relationship with a lobbyist.
Tillis told reporters Tuesday that one of his policy advisers will resign effective at the end of the week. He said the relationship was uncovered a few days after Chief of Staff Charles Thomas resigned when a newspaper questioned him about a relationship with a lobbyist for the state's residential home building industry.
Tillis said he wouldn't immediately release the adviser's name, but he currently has only one policy adviser, Amy Hobbs. Tillis didn't identify the lobbyist, either, but mentioned clients he's worked for.
Hobbs and the lobbyist didn't return phone or email messages seeking comment.
