GREENSBORO, NC -- Another former close aide to John Edwards has testified about bungled efforts to keep the former presidential candidate's affair a secret.
John Davis testified Thursday that months after the mistress quit working for Edwards, Davis ran into her by chance in the candidate's Detroit hotel. The next day, Edwards denied to Davis that he was having an affair with the woman, Rielle Hunter.
But months later, he overheard a phone conversation in which Edwards asked Hunter if her pregnancy were showing. She would later have Edwards' child.
Davis is one of several former aides who have testified about their suspicion or knowledge of the affair at Edwards' campaign finance corruption trial. At issue is donor money that was used in an attempt to keep the affair out of public view.
