Margie Mcknight called us this morning to tell us her 17-year old granddaughter Ashley Mcknight is alive. A family associate acting as a spokesperson called Friday night and reported Ashley passed away. We reported that information. The information was not correct.
You'll remember we've kept you updated on Ashley for weeks now. She was born with Cystic Fibrosis and had a double lung transplant at the age of 13. Her body rejected it and she went into respiratory failure. So she had another double lung transplant in January.
Once again, we talked with her grandmother this morning for the latest and most accurate information about Ashley.
The last thing we ever want to do it give you wrong information.
We often hear from a family spokesperson in times like this because the family isn't ready to talk. We understand that and respect that.
In this case, there was a terrible miscommunication. We know that Ashley her family will be in your thoughts and ours.
