Winston-Salem, NC-- Police in Winston-Salem said a man driving a motorcyce was critically injured Friday on US Highway 52.
Investigating officers said Charles Redding, of Lexington, was driving his Harley Davidson on Highway 52 and tried to merge from the left lane into the right lane.
According to police, a car was also merging into that lane from the Martin Luther King, Jr. entrance ramp. They said Redding lost control of the bike after he swerved to avoid contact with the car.
Redding was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained serious head injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the car, Mengbai Wu, was not injured, police said.
