Greensboro, NC-- Greensboro police had to go to the victim for a crime that happened early Sunday morning. That's because the man was already at the hospital when investigators were called.
Around 4:09am, Police were called to Moses Cone Hospital in reference to an assault. When officers arrived they talked to the victim, Joseph Benton who said he had been shot.
Benton said he was walking on E. Cone Blvd near Summit Avenue when a vehicle slowed down and the suspect who was sitting in the front passenger seat asked him a question. The suspect then told Benton to empty his pockets.
Benton told police he walked away from the car and the person shot him and the driver took off.
Police said Benton's injury is not life-threatening.
