Fairburn, GA-- The girlfriend of a hit-and-run victim is in police custody after she was charged with intentionally running over him.

Fairburn Police Sgt. Anthony Bazydlo said a domestic dispute ended in a deadly accident near Highway 92 and Koweta Road at 2:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Investigators said the victim, Dwight Francis, 31, and his girlfriend, Sharees Denard, 30, had been fighting at a nearby home.

When Denard got in her car to leave, Officers said Francis jumped on the hood to try to stop her. Denard drove south on Hwy 92, where Francis was thrown from the vehicle. At that point, police said she deliberately ran over him.

Two other vehicles also ran over the victim. One of the drivers stopped and was interviewed by police. He was not charged. The second driver has also come forward, and will not be charged by police.

Detectives found Denard and her car at a home on Orchard Street, where she was arrested.

Denard is currently being held at the South Fulton Municipal Regional Jail.
