Iowa-- A father is facing charges for trespassing after police say he tried to pull his son off the soccer field.

The incident happened right in front of officers who were on duty at an Iowa City High School substate soccer game last Wednesday at around 6:00 p.m.

Officers said Benjamin Ingell Hazard Doyle, 51, ran on the field and tried to pull his son off the field.

After stepping off the field, police say Doyle told them and City High staff that he told his son he couldn't play because his grades were too low.

City High staff told police that the boy's grades were high enough to play for the school. Police said the boy's mother had also given permission for him to play.

Doyle told police that he let his temper get the best of him and he knew he wasn't allowed to run on the field.

Doyle was given a trespass warning to all City High property and athletic events.
