Deep Gap, NC -- A 4-year-old girl was killed while playing in a churchyard Friday.
Rev. Rick Cornejo, pastor of Mount Paran Church, said a group of children were running around a tombstone when a cross weighing between 1200 and 1400 pounds fell off the tombstone and hit the girl.
The child was airlifted to a hospital in Johnson City where she was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the child has not yet been released.
