Oak Island, NC-- Authorities say two people were injured when their helicopter crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Oak Island.
Chief Mike Harris of Oak Island Water Rescue says the helicopter crashed shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Thursday near the Oak Island Pier. He says the helicopter was upside down and the man and woman had to get out of their harnesses. People on a fishing boat rescued the two.
They were transferred to the water rescue boat and taken to shore, where the Coast Guard and N.C. Marine Patrol took over.
The StarNews of Wilmington reported that they were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Authorities told the newspaper that the injuries weren't life-threatening.
