(Asheboro, NC) -- Yesterday, the Asheboro Police Department responded to Tucker Street in Asheboro, NC in reference to gunshots being fired.
Upon arriving it was discovered that a black male had been shot and died as result of his injuries. The victim was identified as Joseph McKinley Langford (DOB 04-09-80).
Approximately 15 minutes later the Asheboro Police Department responded to Farr Street located in Asheboro, NC in reference a gunshot wound and assault. The gunshot victim was identified as Nicholas Cornell Chavis (DOB 02-27-93 ) and was transported to a local treatment facility. At this time both incidents appear to be related.
The suspect in this case has been identified as Trenton Lee Leach (DOB 07-17-1990). Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Mr. Leach. The pending charges against Leach are First Degree Murder, and the Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
