Danville, VA -- Crews are working on a 24-hour schedule to restore power to more than 10,000 locations in Danville.
The windstorms that rolled through the eastern US last night tore down more than 50 trees, causing several streets to shut down.
As of noon today, only 1,100 customers were without power in the area.
The city is asking families, friends and churches to help their neighbors who need a place to get out of the heat.
Arrangements are being made to set up cooling centers for those who need them.
