The Heat Goes On...

Triad --  It's hot!  A very strong high pressure system is in place over the southeast.  As long as it sticks around, the heat will too.

The official high at PTIA was 99 but many others jumped above the 100 degree mark.  Burlington reached 102.  Reidsville and Danville got to 101.  Martinsville and Asheboro hit 100.

As the high pressure system sticks around, highs will approach 100 again on Sunday.  Heat indices will be 102-104.  That's why an excessive heat warning remains in effect.  Due to our recent relatively cooler weather, our bodies simply aren't used to this kind of heat.  It's a good idea to limit time outdoors if possible.

It will still be close to 100 on Monday.  The situation will improve a little by the middle of the week.  Highs will scale back to the mid 90s.  Still, that's well above our average high of 87.  With the 4th of July coming up on Wednesday and a forecast high of 96, it's a good idea to plan accordingly.  Maybe plan a few more indoor activities to try to beat the heat.
