Retired Firefighter Found Dead in home, WRAL
Durham, NC-- Police in Durham are investigating the death of a retired Durham firefighter. The 74 year-old was found dead inside his home on Monday.
Police told WRAL they have ruled Donald Watson's death a homicide.
According to police, someone called 911 to report finding Watson's body and described a bloody scene. The caller was unsure whether Watson had been attacked or had simply collapsed and hit a bookcase, saying there was shattered glass on the floor near his body.
Police classified the death as a homicide Tuesday, but did not release details about how Watson died.
Watson worked for the Durham Fire Department from 1959 to 1992. He retired as a fire captain, according to WRAL.
