Eden, NC -- Police are investigating an auto accident that killed one and injured four others Friday afternoon.
Officers were called to the intersection of Meadow Rd. and Pierce St. just after 3:30 p.m. where they found a GMC truck on its side and a 2001 Pontiac against a utility pole.
One of the Pontiac's passengers died at the scene.
The other two passengers were transported to Moses Cone Hospital and treated for injuries.
The driver and passenger of the GMC truck suffered minor injuries and were checked by EMS at the scene.
UPDATE: Police say Jerome Lynn Kenny was the man killed in the accident. His passengers, Lara Nicole Stansberry and a 5-year-old child survived the accident. They all lived in the same home.
The investigation shows that the driver of the GMC SUV ran the red light at the intersection, hitting the Pontiac. The driver, Durrell Martines McLean has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.
