San Jose, CA -- A California company says it has developed a new device to reduce your partner's snoring.
It's called theravent. The FDA has approved it, so you can buy it over-the-counter.
It looks like a big band-aid that seals tightly around your nose. Its so-called microvalves allow you to breathe in freely. But they restrict the airflow when you breath out.
Dr. Raj doshi of ventus medical says it's actually creating pressure when you breathe out. "it actually pressurizes the airway. So instead of having a floppier, smaller airway, the airway is distended and expanded and less likely to vibrating."
The company says theravent reduces snoring by as much as 76%. It costs less than a dollar a night.
If you do try it, you might also want to download an app called 'Snoring U.' You can use it to record and analyze your snoring before and after using theravent. It costs $4.99.
