Whitakers, NC-- A 17 year old is in jail after Police charged him on Sunday with shooting and killing his father and stepmother.
Police said Jacob Whitfield faces two murder charges. He was placed in the Nash County jail. The shooting happened inside the home in Whitakers, NC.
Around 11:30pm Saturday police were dispatched to a house on Taylor St. where officers found a man and woman dead from gunshots.
Investigators told WRAL that five people total, including Whitfield, a friend, his parents and Whitfield's young brother, were in the home at the time of the shooting.
Whitfield, who lives in Virginia with his mother, comes to Nash County periodically to visit his father and family, police said.
Neighbors told WRAL News that Charisma Whitfield celebrated her birthday Saturday prior to the shooting.
