Brunswick County, NC-- Deputies said a man in Brunswick County died Monday after being shot by his own gun.
According to the Wilmington Star News, Deputies were called to Wendall Padgett's house on Monday around 1:30 p.m. Officers found Padgett with a gunshot wound to his left side. The Sheriff's Office did not specify where Padgett was hit.
Padgett was taken to Sea Coast Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies told the newspaper that it appears the firearm discharged accidentally, and right now they don't suspect foul play.
The incident is being investigated by the Brunswick County Detective Unit.
