317 Pounds Of Pot Found In Tractor Trailer

Today members of the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Department of Homeland Sercurity Investigations, NCSBI, NCALE, Davie County Sheriff's Office, Iredell County Sheriff's office, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department, and the Mecklenburg Police Department worked together to identify a suspicious tractor-trailer, located at a Rowan County truck stop.

The truck, with Texas registration, was traveling from the southwest border to New York with a load of mangos.  Investigators asked Hermilo Gomez, Jr. (41-years-old)for consent to search his property and he gave his approval.

Discovered among the mangos in the refrigerated traler was approximately 317 pounds of marijuana, which was later thought to be a delivery going to Rowan County.

Gomez was charged with two counts of trafficking marijuana, one count of maintaining a vehicle and one count of conspiracy to traffic marijuana.  Bond was set at $100,000 secured bond.
