Mayodan, NC-- Saturday afternoon firefighters responded to a house fire in Rockingham County where one person died.

Rockingham County Deputy Fire Marshall Tommy Curry told News 2 that 65-year old Sandy Barker died in the fire that started at her home on S. Fourth Avenue in Mayodan.

Barker lived at the home with her husband, but he was not at home when the fire started around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Fire Investigators confirmed Barker used a wheelchair to get around, and the home is a total loss.
