One Arrested In Domestic Violence Checks

Burlington, NC -- Police arrested one woman July 20 for not complying with a Domestic Violence Protective Order.

The arrest was part of a search by Burlington Police, the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, and Graham Police to make sure people who had Domestic Violence Protection orders placed against them were complying.

DVPO, or 50 B, is  meant to prevent continued violence within domestic relationships.

During the check, officers arrested one woman, Debra L. Florence, 42, of Graham, for not complying with her DVPO terms. She's been placed in the Alamance County Jail without bond.

According to the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, there were 74 domestic violence homicides in 2011 statewide. There have already been 33 reported domestic violence homicides this year.
