Greensboro, NC -- Guilford Memorial Park was victim of theft for the second time in the last two months.  Between July 13th and July 19th, someone stole 137 bronze/copper vases from grave sites.

There have been a total of 243 vases stolen from the memorial park since May. That adds up to roughly $23,000 in bronze that was stolen.

For some it is not about the money, but rather the outrage that people would go this far for a few bucks. "It's where I keep my mom and dad's flowers for anniversaries and birthdays," said Taylor Smith, who has family members burried at the Memorial Park. The theives took a vase from his brother's grave. "I hate that I can't put down flowers or anything for him right now," explained Smith.

Lieutenant Tim Parker with the Jamestown Sherriff Department said the best way to stop these theives is to get a good eye witness description to match the evidence. The park is increasing surveillance and sheriff's deputies patrol the area. If you have any informationthat could help deputies, call Crimestoppers at 373-1000.
