Mebane, NC -- Friday's straight-line wind storm left a lot of damage in its wake from Alamance County, on east.  Saturday, neighbors were out cleaning up and accessing the damage.

Saturday, we spoke with Robert Barrett of Mebane who says the storm was quick and powerful.

"All of a sudden it was just a force that came through and it pulled the screen door open so I tried to get the screen door closed and when I did it knocked my granddaughter on the floor."

"It just happened so quick we just didn't have time to process it and everything. Of course then we went inside the bedroom and a tree was through the roof."

Barrett and his family were not injured but the impact of the tree falling and pushing their roof forward, means it could be a while before they live in the house again.

Workers put all their belongings in storage and an insurance adjuster will give them more damage information next week. In the meantime, Barrett told us he has a lot to be thankful for.

"I'm blessed, thankful to the Lord that his hand was up on us and everything and we came through without any harm or damage to us."
